If You Have a Legal Issue or Question
If you have a New York legal issue that you would like to discuss, you may contact me via email at inquiry@adamaronson.net to schedule an initial telephone consultation. To discourage frivolous calls, before I proceed with an initial consultation, I request a minimum $90 deposit (payable by debit or credit card, check voucher or PayPal, see below), which may cover the consultation, legal research, and/or follow-up email totaling one hour. This heavily discounted rate is offered only for the first hour of my services. With the exception of paralegal, secretarial and courier time, the $90 first-hour fee is lower than my most heavily discounted sliding scale hourly rate. If you wish to end an initial consultation within 15 minutes, I will refund your entire $90. Other refunds are prorated based on the length of the consultation. In your email, please include your full name, your telephone number, best times to reach you, and an explanation of your legal issue. Feel free to attach to your email any relevant documents, photographs and other materials. Though details and attachments are optional, the more information I have, the more useful the consultation is likely to be for you.
If your matter is urgent, you may email the same information to urgent@adamaronson.net. I respond to most urgent requests within 24 hours, including weekends and holidays. Phone consultations requested via the urgent@adamaronson.net address are subject to a flat, non-refundable fee of $100 for a one-hour consultation. Urgent consultations are not pro-rated.
Initial consultations in person are charged at the same rates as telephone consultations above if you travel to meet me near my offices on West 21st Street near 9th Avenue in Manhattan. If you prefer I travel to meet with you at your preferred location within Manhattan, the flat initial consultation fee is $175 for up to 90 minutes.

If a prospective client and I are both interested in proceeding with an attorney-client relationship, I can explain options available under a permanent retainer (an agreement between the client and the lawyer) customized to the prospective client's legal and financial circumstances. Hybrid fee arrangements (involving both hourly and contingent components) are sometimes available, as are ongoing consultation arrangements at my regular hourly rate without a full attorney-client relationship. With rarest exceptions, I do not take matters on a pure contingency fee basis. Neither an attorney nor a prospective client is under any obligation to proceed with an agreement after an initial consultation. If you ever feel that a lawyer is pressuring you to pursue litigation or otherwise doing a "hard-sell," please be very cautious.
